Virat Kohli can break Sachin Tendulkar’s world record in ODI series vs England

After winning the T20I series 3-2, India is set to host England in a three-match ODI series, starting on March 23 in Pune. The last two games will be played on March 26 and 28.

The Indian skipper had a quiet Test series vs England, where he managed only 172 runs in 4 Tests. He returned to form in the five T20Is, as he ended up as the leading run-scorer with 231 runs in five games at 115.50.

Kohli has not scored an international ton since the day-night Test vs Bangladesh in Nov. 2019. His century drought in ODIs stretches even more as he has not scored in triple digits since the WI series in Aug. 2019.

India’s legendary Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for scoring most ODI tons at home – 20 tons at home in 160 ODI innings.

In the list of most ODI hundreds at home, Kohli is in second place with 19 tons. In the three-match ODI series against England, he has a chance to equal or even go past Sachin, provided the Indian skipper continues his good form.

With 41 centuries each, Kohli and Ricky Ponting are currently tied at the top of the list of most international hundreds as captain. The Indian skipper has three ODIs in the next six days to go past the legendary Australian in this prestigious record.
