9K T20 runs

Virat Kohli became the first Indian to complete 9,000 T20 runs. He secured the milestone during the IPL 2020 in Sept-Oct in the UAE.
World record in T20s
Kohli became the most capped player for a single T20 team earlier this year. Kohli has played 207 games for RCB with Somerset’s James Hildreth second on the list with 196 matches.
Fastest to 12K T20I runs
Kohli broke Tendulkar’s record to become the fastest cricketer to 12,000 runs in T20Is. Kohli achieved the milestone in 242 innings when compared to Tendulkar’s 300 innings. Ponting and Sangakkara are next on the list – 314 and 336 innings respectively.
Kohli-led India unbeaten in 6 T20I series
IND recently defeated AUS 2-1 in T20Is, and are unbeaten in six consecutive T20I series under Kohli’s captaincy. It was also Kohli-led IND’s fourth T20I series victory in a row. After winning the opening two matches against AUS, India lost the final one, which ended their streak of being unbeaten in 10 T20Is.
Failed to score a century
2020 would go down as a new low in Kohli’s otherwise decorated career as a batsman because it was for the first time, he failed to register a single century, across formats.
Lowest Test average
Due to the pandemic infused by COVID-19, Team India played fewer matches than usual. From the three Tests Kohli played, he scored 116 runs in 6 innings and recorded the lowest average of his Test career – 19.33, surpassing the 22.44 in his maiden year in Test cricket, 2011.
An average year in 50-overs
From the nine ODIs he played in 2020, Kohli scored 431 runs at an average of 47.88, which was his lowest average in the ODIs since 2015. Five years ago, Kohli had finished the calendar year with 631 runs from 20 games at an average of 36.64.
Perfect toss record comes to an end
Before Adelaide Test in 2020, Kohli had never lost a Test after winning the toss. His overseas record was impressive too: 8 Test wins after winning 10 tosses. Now, Kohli’s record away from home: 8 Wins, 1 Loss after winning 11 tosses.
