TDP, YSRCP ignore; BJP seeks time till Wednesday T Cong demands T with Hyd as capital; Seemandhra team firm against division

Hyderabad: Though the deadline for submitting recommendations to the Group of Ministers (GoM) set up to look into the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh ended on Tuesday, only three parties, Congress, TRS and CPI submitted reports to the GoM.

While the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress Party decided to ignore the GoM, Congress party cadres from State chose to adopt two-eyed policy like TDP and forwarded two recommendations, one from T region and another from Seemandhra region. Also, CPM decided not to submit any report to the GoM.

Amendment to the text of Article 371-D, sharing of water, power and other natural resources, administrative set up in the new State, and Telangana consisting of 10 districts with Hyderabad as capital were some of the demands put forth by the T Congress leaders.

They also demanded the Centre to immediately identify the city where the residuary State would build its capital. Whereas, Seemandhra region team said that it would not accept anything short of united State and argued about the problems that would arise if the State was divided.

The minister for Information and Public Relations, DK Aruna also sent a report to the GoM on the same lines as the T Congress leaders had submitted to the PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana.

The BJP sought time till November 7 to submit its report to the GoM. Though the state leaders like G Kishan Reddy and Bandaru Dattatreya on Tuesday claimed that there was near unanimity between the leaders of both the regions, it is understood that the party’s central leadership has found certain inconsistencies in the reports and has constituted a three-member panel to consolidate the two reports.

The TDP, which held series of meetings with the leaders of both the regions both jointly and separately since Monday, has decided to write a letter to the Prime Minister demanding the GoM to invite leaders of Joint Action Committees (JACs) from both the regions and talk to them.
