Hyderabad: It was a day of nostalgia for the former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who visited the the landmark building that sparked the term Hi-Tec City (Hyderabad Information Technology Engineering Consultancy City) on Friday as it completed 15 years.

Interacting with IT employees on the sidelines of participating in 15th anniversary of foundation day of Cyber towers at Hi-Tec City here , Naidu said the cyber towers got the distinction of being constructed in a short period of 14 months against 24 month schedule.

The TDP leader said his government also accorded utmost importance to the promotion of high and technical education by allowing private institutions to open colleges across the state and had prepared a vision document to achieve the status of a knowledge hub in the world.

He said, soon after India started witnessing an IT revolution with Bengaluru as key IT hub, his government realised the need for infrastructure to attract investments of several IT companies.

It was a well known fact that a large number of IT professionals working in Silicon Valley and other technology hubs were from this region.

This prompted the government to start the project with private investments. It was aimed at providing employment to all educated youth.

IT sector was given top priority by his regime. The unstinted efforts made by his government helped in developing IT sector which yielded good results with the continuous flow of investments from abroad, Naidu added.

He said whenever he passes that way, he feels greatly satisfied to see how the IT sector had changed the life of youth and the topography of the city. Hyderabad which was known for Charminar and the statue of Buddha in Hussain Sagar had added another

important feather to its cap in the form of Hi-Tec City. “I feel proud whenever I see the picture of cyber towers on international magazines,” he said.

Cyber Towers, is the first phase of Hi-Tec City and was inaugurated in November 1998. The project was commissioned initially with L&T ECC and was named L&T INFOCITY.
