Bill discussion in Assembly mere eye-wash: Byreddy, State Reorganisation Bill. Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Rayalaseema region remained backward for the last 57 years.

Kurnool: Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samithi (RPS) president Byreddy Rajasekhara Reddy came down heavily on the MLAs belonging to the Rayalaseema region for undertaking tours in their region without studying the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill. Speaking to the media here on Sunday, he said that the people of the Seemandhra region sent eight MPs and 52 MLAs and it was their duty to ensure that their interests were protected.

Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Rayalaseema region remained backward for the last 57 years. He said that the MLAs and MPs should have a thorough discussion on the Bill in the State Assembly and Parliament. He said that as per the Sri Baugh Pact, the Rayalaseema region should get the capital city.

The RPS president said that as the Rayalaseema region was drought-stricken, the irrigation projects here should be given a national status and completed. He said that it was unfortunate that there was no mention of the term ‘Rayalaseema’ in the Reorganisation Bill. He advised N Chandrababu Naidu, N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, hailing from the Rayalaseema region to stop criticising and abusing each other in foul language and instead, work unitedly for safeguarding the interests of the Rayalaseema people. Byreddy said that the Rayalaseema region should get 550 tmc of water on the basis of population and 723 tmc of water on geographical basis. He said that they should fight for the water.
