Spurious liquor at Vijayawada bar kills six people

Six persons died and 15 others seriously fell ill after consuming illicit liquor at Swarna Bar in Krishna Lanka area in Vijayawada on Monday morning. The victims, who are said to be daily wage workers, allegedly consumed the adulterated liquor before going to the work.
Soon after they consumed liquor, they fell ill and three persons died and 17 others hospitalized. Three persons died while undergoing treatment at the hospital and the condition of four other persons is said to be serious.
The excise department officials immediately seized the bar and collected samples of the killer alcohol. Responding to the incident, the minister for excise Kollu Ravindra said that the culprits behind the incident will be sent behind bars.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock over the incident and ordered a probe into the incident. Chandrababu, who is currently touring Srikakulam, enquired about the incident with the collectors from Krishna district. He directed the officials to provide better treatment to the victims.
YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock and grief over the deaths of those who fell prey to spurious liquor in Vijayawada. He sought the Government to provide better medical care for those undergoing treatment. He demanded that the Government Order a judicial probe should over the tragic incident.
