Speaking to media at Ved Vyas Auditorium on Saturday, the SP said huge number of police force would be beefed up to ensure no untoward incidents take place in the celebrations.

He said that stringent action would be initiated if found drunk and drive, driving motorbikes without silencers, triple riding and disturbing peace on December 31 night. Besides initiating stringent action, the licence of motorists would be cancelled, and they would be sent to jail.

Around 100 teams of police personnel would be engaged to check the lodges, hotels and other places, he added. He wished New Year greetings and appealed the citizens of Kurnool district to enjoy the occasion in a vibrant manner without giving scope to untoward
incidents.
