Nellore: After reports of plastic rice and plastic eggs in the markets, panic gripped among people as some videos have been viral on the social media in and around the city showing some plastic material which was mixed with atta of a popular brand.

The videos have been viral in the city and some women confirmed that the flour was having a sticky plastic-like material after washing the dough. In the videos it was displayed that some people prepared dough balls with atta and washed them with water for more than 10 minutes. Finally, they were getting plastic like jelly material.

“We confirmed that it was having plastic material. We started sharing our concerns with others for not using the atta with the brand name hereafter,” said P Hima Bindu from Kanuparthipadu village, close to Nellore city who tested the flour.

Similar was the opinion of many people in and around city who observed some material in the chapathi dough. In fact, a case was filed by the ITC Limited in December 2017 against a firm from Siliguri in West Bengal for some videos that allegedly misled the consumers then. Experts say that a protein which naturally occurs in grains like wheat, oats, barley, and others seem to be like jelly.
