britishAdilabad: As many as 20 dwelling units, which were built by British miners around 100 years ago, are still in good condition and are used by people at Bellampalli town in the district. According to sources, when British miners began coal exploration in Singareni mines, the area was covered with thick forest. They built round houses covered with cone shaped roofs to prevent wild animals from attacking them. They used limestone and banana paste, iron sheets and other material for constructing the dwelling units. Though the specially designed houses were built a century ago, they are useful even today. Some miners working in Singareni Company are using these houses.
