  • Central schemes being passed on as State govt’s
  • Shah says he will urge PM Modi to speak to CM

Former Union Minister and senior leader Daggubati Purandeswari openly criticised Chandrababu Naidu for staking claim to Central government schemes viz., Rs 1,000 pension and toilets for all. Her open criticism of the TD chief is welcomed by a majority of the BJP leaders across the State who, according to sources, endorsed them in the presence of Amit Shah. She said the Rs 1000 pension for aged persons and Rs 12,000 for toilets under Swachh Bharat programme were being provided by the Central government.

However, she regretted, Chandrababu Naidu was not mentioning the Central government while speaking of the programmes. She strongly felt that the BJP should expose the same and get peoples’ support for the party. Several BJP leaders expressed similar views during the two-and-a-half hours interaction with Amit Shah. They also expressed their displeasure over Naidu promoting the Smart Cities, national highways and 24x7 power supply schemes as his government programmes.

They sought Shah’s nod to campaign across the State to apprise the people of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet programmes. They explained that the BJP would be able to cross the 35 lakh membership target for the State only if these schemes were explained to the people as Modi’s contributions.

Some were also sore that the CM was not taking any steps to popularise the Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Aadarsha Gram Yojana (PMAGY) schemes launched by the NDA government. While Jan Dhan Yojana is for opening of bank accounts for every citizen for economic empowerment, the PMAGY is for infrastructure development of the villages.

After giving them a patient hearing, Amit Shah is understood to have advised them to wait for some time. He agreed that the Central government should get its due credit for the welfare schemes launched by it. He would relate their concerns to the Prime Minister soon and urge him to speak to Chandrababu Naidu.
