NTR Kala Vedika organised a music concert, by whistle wizard Komaravolu Sivaprasad, and ‘Gasochindi’, a comedy play by Kala Manjari, at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram on Sunday. Sivaprasad, who is a disciple of legendary musicians Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna and Ustad Bismillah Khan, started his whistle concert with ‘Vatapi Ganapatim Bhaje’ in Hamsadhwani ragam.

Sivaprasad, who is a disciple of legendary musicians Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna and Ustad Bismillah Khan, started his whistle concert with ‘Vatapi Ganapatim Bhaje’ in Hamsadhwani ragam.

The whistle exponent, who has about 10,000 concerts to his credit, rendered Thyagaraja pancharatna keerthanas, Annamacharya keerthanas, Kabir Das’ bhajans, Hindustani music and Satya Sai bhajan, which captivated music lovers. Instrumental support was lent by SV Ramana Murthy on violin, K Srinivas on mridangam, Bhaskara Prasad on ghatam, Gunaranjan on tabla and Lal Krishna on keyboard.

After the whistle concert, Kala Manjari cultural association presented ‘Gasochindi’. The script for the play is written by Verla Vara Prasad. The writer has conveyed a message to people to shun tobacco and liquor through the proverb ‘Health is Wealth’. E Ramesh Babu, M Vijaya Kumar, SS Varma, PVL Nrisimham, Chandini and Vanibala essayed the main roles in the play directed by Venigalla Bhaskar. It was well received by the audience.
