The Indian Medical Association former president Dr G Samaram appealed to the citizens of Vijayawada to promote eye donation. Speaking at the health education programme of Vasavya Nursing Home, Dr Samaram emphasised the need to fight against blindness.

“On one hand blindness is making people non-productive and on the other hand, many eyes of the deceased are going waste, which could rather be used to implant,” Dr Samaram said, insisting people to donate eyes so that the needy can be benefited.
He further stated that anyone from the age of six months could donate eyes and give new life to the visionless. Noted gynecologist Dr G Maru was also present.
