A team of doctors, headed by Urologist G Ajay Kumar, had successfully performed an endoscopic procedure on a 9-year-old boy at Sentini Hospitals in the city to treat overactive bladder. Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday, Dr Ajay Kumar said, “Sentini achieved the distinction of performing the rare endoscopic procedure for the first time in coastal Andhra to treat overactive bladder.”

Giving the case details, he said that the boy born with myelomeningocele, had been suffering from urinary incontinence and repeated infection of urinary tract for the past seven years. It can be rectified by open or laparoscopic surgery or minimally invasive endoscopic procedure.

Keeping in view the tender age of the patient and to ensure his healthy growth, the minimally invasive endoscopic procedure was performed on him and botulinum toxin was injected into the bladder. After undergoing the endoscopic procedure three months ago, the boy has become quite normal overcoming urinary incontinence, Dr Ajay Kumar added.

The boy who underwent endoscopic procedure for overactive bladder, Sentini Hospitals managing director Padma Movva, executive director Anand Srinivas Movva and medical superintendent K Rajagopal were also present at the news conference.
