Rotary Midtown wins accolades for their services

The Rotary Club of Vijayawada Midtown has been conferred with 72 appreciation awards by Rotary Foundation, for the year 2015-16. On the occasion, the foundation also sanctioned a financial aid of Rs 92 lakh towards the programmes that would be carried out in 2016-17.

Midtown’s president G Srinivasa Rao and secretary P Anil Babu in a statement to the media said that they have been appreciated for their remarkable work towards helping the needy which included medical camps, distribution of medicines and contribution to education sector of the government.

Elaborating on it, they said that the Midtown wing has successfully helped school students with furniture, computers, wash basins, construction of washrooms at as many as 13 municipal schools besides 8 zilla parishad schools at Jaggaiahpet. Several medical camps were held across rural areas of the district in the last term, where youngsters from the city were also made an indirect part.

Also, the foundation has awarded ‘Service above Self’ memento to Rotary 3020 district secretary M Satish Babu for being a strong force behind pooling up Rs 1 crore towards eradication of polio in Pakistan.
