Mythological treat for theatre lovers
As a weekend cultural programme, the Department of Language and Culture organised Sri Krishna Rayabaram mythological drama at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College in the city on Sunday.
As a weekend cultural programme, the Department of Language and Culture organised Sri Krishna Rayabaram mythological drama at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College in the city on Sunday.
The main roles in the verse drama staged by Saibaba Natya Mandali were enacted by Ch Jagadeesh, Ramaiah and Srihari Rao (Sri Krishna), PVN Krishna (Duryodhana), and M Venkateswara Rao (Arjuna).
BV Rao, Kaleswara Rao, Someswara Rao, KVS Acharya and Kutumba Rao were also in the cast. All the artistes did justice to their roles. The set, lighting, music and visual effects were also good. The verse drama was well-received by the audience.
Many legendary artistes of yesteryears like Raghuramaiah, Peesapati, AV Subba Rao, Shanmukhi, Abburi, Vemuri, Dhulipala, Paturi, Uppaluri, Pulipati and Kavuri who staged the drama numerous times in the last seven decades, made it more popular with their own style of action and rendering verses.
