Maris Stella holds plantation drive
The Department of Botany of Maris Stella College, in association with the Eco Club, organised a plantation drive on its campus on Friday as part of the Vanam Manam programme.
The Department of Botany of Maris Stella College, in association with the Eco Club, organised a plantation drive on its campus on Friday as part of the Vanam Manam programme. P Ramachandra Prasad, Assistant Professor of IIIT, Hyderabad, who participated in the programme as a chief guest, exhorted students to take an active part in environmental protection. Equal emphasis should be laid on planting of saplings and their nourishment to increase the green cover, he said.
About 200 ornamental, medicinal, avenue and other plant species were planted by BSc students. Maris Stella College principal Sr Kulrekha Mudartha, Head of Department of Botany CVL Karuna, Eco Club office-bearers G Usha Kumari and V Manga Devi and faculty members took part in the plantation drive.
