Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao International Telugu Centre of Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad, presented the Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao Cultural Award for 2016 to the Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM) at a function held in the city on Thursday. The event was held to mark the birth anniversary of the former minister.

Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao International Telugu Centre of Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad, presented the Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao Cultural Award for 2016 to the Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM) at a function held in the city on Thursday. The event was held to mark the birth anniversary of the former minister.

Dr Achaiah Kumar Rao, president of the Telugu Association of Malaysia, received the award on behalf of TAM. Speaking at the award presentation function, Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said the State Government took several measures to promote Telugu language and culture worldwide. “There is also a proposal to organise the World Telugu Conference in Visakhapatnam,” he said.

Deputy Speaker of Assembly Mandali Buddha Prasad said TAM was selected for the Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao Cultural Award this year in recognition of its efforts to promote Telugu language and culture in Malaysia.

The Human Resource Development Minister released Krishnatheeram video produced by Cherukuri Satyanarayana on the occasion. Prof D Muniratnam Naidu, Incharge Director of Telugu Centre, Prof Daniel Negers of French National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilisations, A Srinivasa Reddy, a representative of Telugu Associations of the United States of America, Satya Prakash of the United Kingdom, Ilapuram Venkaiah and others were present.
