The Ongole MP, YV Subbareddy has announced that he will convince the railway and postal departments to provide railway reservations in post offices in villages and towns where reservation counters are unavailable. He made a surprise visit to the head post office in Ongole on Thursday afternoon and spoke to the staff.

The MP said that he received information from people from town and villages like Podili, Kanigiri and Kandukur etc are facing problems to make railway reservations and they need to travel to Cumbum or Markapur or nearest railway station for them.

In order to provide a solution to crores of people from villages like these, the MP said that he was going to try and convince the railways and postal departments to offer train reservation at post offices.

The Prakasam district has 56 revenue mandals. In them 43 mandals are under Ongole postal sub division and the 13 mandals in Markapur are with Nandhyal postal sub division. Subbareddy said that he will propose the postal department senior officials to make a Markapur postal sub division with its 13 revenue mandals and few other mandals from Ongole sub division.

The MP also promised the staff that he will take up the issue of postal employees to include them in the comprehensive health scheme by the central government.
