SBI to go digital, offer more services to customers
State Bank of India (SBI) is set to go digital across the country with focus on offering better value added services to the customers, said its deputy managing director (global markets) Chalasani Venkata Nageswar.

Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, after inaugurating the SBI In-Touch branch at Gunadala, Nageswar said that they have added 250 digital branches in the country this year and were set to add more.
The digital branches minimise staff interface with the customers, he said and added that the customers can have their services operating directly on the devices and computers.
The digital branches have machines for ATMs, cash deposit, cheque deposit, pass book update, get new debit card and even open new account. The customers can walk into these branches and open new account using the Aadhar number, get their instant debit card, deposit money, make fund transfer and get their statement of accounts, using the machines installed there.
Nageswar further added that the bank was also offering value added services like investment in funds and purchase of movable and immovable properties. The bank offers online counseling and advice to the customers on investments and purchases, he said.
He further added that the digital branch would also provide information on education loans, the profiles of the best educational institutions across the world. The students can walk into the digital branch, check the best institutions available in any country, courses offered and the loan facility provided by the bank including repayment status, on the screen provided in the branch.
He said that the bank was getting ready to expand more InTouch branches across the country, reaching out to the customers. SBI Andhra Pradesh and Telangana chief general manager, Hardayal Prasad, said that Andhra Pradesh has 10 digital branches working at Vijayawada, Visakhapantam, Tirupati, Ananthapur, Kadapa and Eluru.
They have plans to extend the services to the other major cities this year, he added. SBI regional manager, Venkat Garikapati and others were present.
