The Land Rover Discovery is known to be a legendary off-roader which is also supremely comfortable and can look stylish outside a five-star hotel. The gorgeous looking SUV is now in its fifth generation and is slated to break cover before the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Now the British carmaker has sent out some promotional images of the new generation Land Rover Discovery to build up some hype for the vehicle.
The new seven-seater Discovery is based heavily on the Land Rover Discovery Vision concept shown in 2014, and the car does look sinister. The teaser image shows the SUV having a true British style stiff lower-lip with a silver skid plate and vertical slats on lower bumper, along with super-fat front tyres. Though, true-blue Land Rover fans may feel that the car has gone softer and more posh, or as Jeremy Clarkson puts it – become a Chelsea Tractor.
The fifth generation Land Rover Discovery will be based on on the PLA (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform, and thus, will be significantly lighter than the current model it replaces. It is expected to be offered with 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre petrol and diesel engine options globally from the newly developed Ingenium line of Land Rover engines. The new generation Land Rover Discovery will be built alongside the Range Rover andRange Rover Sport at the Solihull plant in England.
The New Range Rover will be unveiled on 28th September, just before the glamorous 2016 Paris Motor Show. Earlier spy shots have already revealed the interior design and have shown that the SUV might retain the asymmetrical tail gate design, along with the benchmark ‘alpine’ roof profile which rises at the rear to provide stadium like seating. An Indian launch is also expected next year.
