Rotary Club of Vijayawada, Mid Town on Sunday conducted Mini Olympics for school children at VP Sidhartha Public School in Vijayawada. Nearly 500 children of different age groups participated in the event.

Rio Olymipcs Hockey player E Rajani inaugurated the mini Olympics with a torch rally. World School Games Athletic participant Jyothika Sri and veteran athlete S Padmanabhan handed over the torch to Olympian Rajani. They enthusiastically participated in the running to encourage school children in sports and games.
Speaking on the occasion Hockey Olympian Rajanji said that parents should encourage students to play sports and games. School felt childhood is the correct age for learning games and sports, she said. Sport is the part of education and everyone should actively participate in the sports and games, she suggested.
“I studied at the government school in Chittoor district and developed in sports because of the government’s encouragement,” she added.
Students joyfully participated in the sports and games. Hundred of parents came to VP Sidhartha Public School to watch the Athletics, Vollyball, Basketball, Badminton, Gymnastics and other sport events.
Sports Authority of India (SAI) Athletic Coach DNV Vinayak Prasad, Physical Education Teachers, SAAP Coaches and others contributed for the success of Mini Olympics. In 600 meter dash Nalanda School student Ch Asish stood first place.
Rotary club of Vijayawada, Mid Town president Tadiparthi Kishan Babu, secretary Maganti Krishna Prabu, youth services chairman K Prasad Chimmana, directors Yadla Pardha Saradhi, Mansoor Ahmed Syed, P Siva Sankar Yadav and others attended the programme.
