Ramayana Harikatha Ganam begins

Sampurna Ramayana Harikatha Ganam by Burra Padmanabha Sarma Bhagavatar began at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College in the city on Monday. The seven-day Harikatha Ganam is being organised by Kalamanjari cultural organisation.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, HVRS Prasad, president of Telugu Artistes Federation, paid glowing tributes to Harikatha Pithamaha Srimad Ajjada Adibhatla Narayana Dasu. He described Harikatha as a flower garland as the distinct folk art form includes literature, music and dance to enthrall common people.

On the first day of Harikatha Ganam, Padmanabha Sarma rendered Sri Rama Jananam. Panyam Dakshinamurthy, Puvvula Satyam and Pasumarthy Harinatha Sastry lent instrumental music support to the Harikatha Ganam of Padmanabha Sarma. Ghantasala Music College principal KS Govindarajan, Koganti Satyanarayana, KS Chalam, Kacharlakota Lakshmi Padmaja, organisers PVL Nrisimham and Ch Haragopal were present. The Harikatha Ganam will continue till September 29, except on Sept 21, 25, 26 and 28.
