All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) and Progressive Organisation of Women (POW) jointly organised a meeting on the occasion of Gurajada Apparao 154 Birth Anniversary at Hanumanthraya Grandhalayam here in the city on Wednesday.

All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) and Progressive Organisation of Women (POW) jointly organised a meeting on the occasion of Gurajada Apparao 154 Birth Anniversary at Hanumanthraya Grandhalayam here in the city on Wednesday. The theme of the meeting was based on the prevention of violence against women and gender equality.

AIDWA state working president, Katragadda Swaroopa Rani said that the legendary writer Gurajada Apparao focused on women centric issues in his writings and empowered women and the society. The present day society is in need of persons like Gurajada Apparao who enlighten the mindsets of society and stand by women against violence, harassment and gender inequality.

She also said that the society is very unfair to women and the violence against women is increasing by the day. The development of Nation would only happen when every part of the Nation becomes women friendly. NFIW State Secretary G Durga Bhavani, POW State Secretary Ganga Bhavani and other members of the women organisations took part in this event.
