Nimmaraju Rammohan Rao, secretary of the HELP NGO received the National Award for child welfare in institution category from the hands of the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee at a programme organised as part of Children’s Day in New Delhi on Monday.

Nimmaraju Rammohan Rao, secretary of the HELP NGO received the National Award for child welfare in institution category from the hands of the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee at a programme organised as part of Children’s Day in New Delhi on Monday. Rammohan Rao received Rs 3 lakh as reward with the national award and memento.

The HELP is an NGO working for the safety and welfare of children and women, who are easily exploitable in the society, is established in Ongole in 1993 by few Journalists. It is active in 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with the hotline 1098 for child safety and nodal organisation for AP CID to stop girl child and women trafficking.

The organisation works with an objective to stop child prostitution, trafficking and second generation prostitution. It promotes social justice and social development in relation to issues of crime and victimisation. The HELP protected 650 women and girls from the prostitution and educated 650 girls and boys in the residential campus Asasadan at Machavaram.
