Global Chess Academy (GCA) secretary Sk Khasim on Thursday said that International FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament would be conducted from November 25 to 30 at Royal Green City near Autonagar.
Khasim spoke to newsmen at his office and said that about 300 players would participate in the tournament. The open tournament would be an opportunity to the state chess players to improve their FIDE rating, he added.
The International Master (IM) norm holders would also participate in the tournament. He further said that 60 entries were to come from Chennai to the prestigious tourney.
A total of Rs 2 lakh in prize money would be given to the winners while Rs 35,000 will be given to the first prize winners, Rs 25,000 for the second position and Rs10,000 for the person who secures the third place. Separate prizes would be given for different age groups, he added.
The GCA president, Rajendra Prasad, said that free accommodation and food would be supplied to the players. Chess Grand Master Koneru Humpy, Dronacharya awardee Koneru Ashok and others would attend the tournament inauguration, he added.
