Vijayawada Music Academy conducted classical music competitions for both juniors and seniors on Sunday at Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College.

Vijayawada Music Academy conducted classical music competitions for both juniors and seniors on Sunday at Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College. About 50 participants from Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Gudivada, Nellore and Tirupati, Warangal and Hyderabad from the telugu speaking states attended the competitions and exhibited their talent.

The competitions were conducted in memory of veteran musician Kotipalli Suryaprakasa Rao. For the valedictory function Dr Jandhyala Sankar, Former Mayor of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation attended and complemented the organisers for conducting such competitions for the youth to exhibit their talent in a good platform. He also stressed the need of such competitions to improve the sportive spirit in children.

N Anuvratha from Tirupati got the first prize in senior’s category while Darbha Mruduravali and GRMT Nageswara Sarma received second and third prizes respectively in the same category. Best Prize in junior category went to Visakhapatnam resident P Apurupa and second prize to MNV Raghuram of Eluru. The third and three consolation prizes were received by K Naga Vaishnavi of Visakhapatnam, Mounika Srivalli of Tirupati, Pradumna Sharma of Vijayawada and P Mounisha of Tirupati.

Noted musicians P Nandakumar from Guntur, Malladi Karhika Triveni, KV Brahmananda Rao and Malladi Naryana Sarma of Eluru were in the jury panel for the competitions. In a brief meeting Musicians N Ch B Acharya, Vijayakumar, convenor Prasad Hemadri, B Anjaneya Raju and Venkata Ramana also participated in the programme.
