Toyota India announced today that the bookings of new Fortuner since its launch in Nov 2016 has crossed the 10,000 mark. The car has managed its No one position in the segment ever since it was launched. This milestone follows the last one, which was announced last month, when sales of Fortuner (all generations combined) had crossed the 1 lakh mark.

With the new generation Fortuner now launched in India, the car maker expects to boost sales even further. Offered in a choice of petrol and diesel engine option, the new Toyota Fortuner waiting period now stands at about three months. This in spite the fact that 5,000 units have already been delivered.

Petrol engine option of new Fortuner is on sale for a price of Rs 25.92 lakh to Rs 27.61 lakh, while the diesel engine variant is on sale for a range of Rs 27.52 lakh to Rs 31.12 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi. Diesel engine of new Fortuner is in the form of a 2.8 liter mill which generates 177 bhp and 450 Nm, while the petrol engine is in the form of a 2.7 liter engine that generates peak power of 164 hp and 250 Nm torque. Both engines are offered with manual as well as automatic transmission options.

Petrol variants are only offered with a RWD system while diesel is also offered with 4×4 drive system. Based on the new Hilux Revo pickup truck platform, the new Toyota Fortuner is built on a ladder frame chassis. The Fortuner doesn’t shy away from a challenge, thanks to its impressive ground clearance, wheel articulation, 4×4 system with low transfer case, steep approach and departure angles. All this was tested by us at the recently organized off-road Experience Camp.
