The Suzuki Gixxer is one of our favourite motorcycles as it offers fun performance in a tiny package. Even though the Gixxer is one of the best 150cc bikes in the market, it lags in sales compared to its immediate rivals like the Yamaha FZ and Honda CB Hornet 160R. Suzuki has now started exports of the made in India Gixxer to Japan with the first lot of 720 units being sent to Suzuki’s home country.

This is the first time a motorcycle made by Suzuki India is being sold in Japan although Suzuki’s 4-wheeler conterpart, Maruti Suzuki, has been selling the made in India Baleno in Japan since a few months now. India is indeed becoming a manufacturing hub for Suzuki.

The Gixxer is Suzuki’s flagship motorcycle which is produced locally. The company does sell superbikes with the popular Hayabusa being assembled in India via the CKD route.

Suzuki is exporting the Gixxer in monotone and dual-tone colours with the 155cc engine using fuel injection and rear disc being standard. In November 2016, Suzuki sold 4481 units of the Gixxer in the Indian market while its top seller was the Access 125 scooter that found 24,825 homes.

Other than the aforementioned vehicles, Suzuki two-wheeler hasn’t been selling any bike in significant volumes with its commuter offerings like the Let’s, Hayate and Slingshot combined selling just 1500 units in November 2016.
