“I’ve been making electronic music for over 15 years now. But I’ve only seen massive success over the last 2-3 years. It wasn’t always like this and I definitely was worried whether my music would work or not. Fortunately, I always kept myself around like-minded people who really helped me stay true to myself”

You will be performing at EDC Mexico. How excited are you?
I’m very excited about Mexico this is going to be my very first time in that part of the globe. Also, EDC is one of the best electronic music festivals I have come across till now and I’ve heard that the Mexico edition is the wildest.

What songs did you listen in your formative years?
A lot of Hindi film music from back in the days and also some pop music that my elder brother introduced me to.

How do you manage fatherhood and touring?
It would not have been possible without my wife. She takes care of everything while I’m away and when I come back home I ensure that I spend as much time with both of them as I possibly can.

What is your take on EDM? And how much of an EDM fan are you?
EDM blew up like no other genre ever has and it was a worldwide phenomenon. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of it.

Don’t you think indie artistes tend to shy away from Bollywood music thinking it is the main stream?
I don’t think so. It’s a matter of personal choice really, as far as I see it.

You have been a part of the EDM circuit back when EDM was not even known in the country. Did you think that your music will not work? Did you have compromise on your work then?
I’ve been making electronic music for over 15 years now. But I’ve only seen massive success over the last 2-3 years. It wasn’t always like this and I definitely was worried whether my music would work or not. Fortunately, I always kept myself around like-minded people who really helped me stay true to myself and keep making music the way I like to.

Do you plan on starting your own record label?
No such plans as of right now. Maybe at some point in the future.

What are you currently listening to?
I listen to a lot of western classical music these days.

Any Bollywood projects that you are working on?
A couple of projects are in the pipeline and I’ll share more information once things are confirmed.

What's next in store for your fans?
I just released a new track in which I have collaborated with Papon. It is a part of the new season of ‘The Dewarist’ and the track is in Assamese and it’s called ‘Memories’.

How did 2016 treat you?
It’s been the best year so far. Many great things happened and I’m looking forward to a great New Year now.

What are you most looking forward to in 2017?
There’s quite an extensive international tour that we’re preparing for and that’s what I’m really looking forward to.

These days we find that DJs are more into making singles than albums. Why do you think is that?
To be honest, it doesn’t matter as long as you make good music.

Every artiste has an adrenaline rush, what is yours?
My energy comes from the crowd’s energy. When I see them enjoying so much, it automatically takes me to the next level.
