In devotion to Lord Venkateswara

Lakshmi Srinivasa Vasavi seva Samithi of the city had conducted a seven-day devotional event ‘Lakshmi Poundarika Yagna sahita Srivari Nityothavalu’ in Swaraj Midan from January 23. The replica of the very famous Tirumala temple was erected in the premises. The committee conducted all the sevas of Lord Venkateswara Swamy as per the schedule of Tirumala, including the Kalyanothavam.

Besides the sevas, the committee also erected 11 Homa kundams to conduct Poundarika Yegnam. Sacrifice, devotion, worship, offering are the main characteristics of Homam. Each day the priests performed homas to please the Goddess for the prosperity of the Society and to avoid natural calamities in the world.

On Saturday being the last day ‘poornahuti’ was held in all 11 Homa Kundams and Veda swasthi was chanted by the Vedic pundits. This was supervised by the main priest of Tiruchanur Alivelumanga temple.

The colorful devotional event ‘Pushpa Yagam’ was also performed on the last day. About 800 ladies performed ‘sobha yatra’ with flower baskets from TTD Kalyana Mandapam to the Swarajmidan temple to offer these flowers to Lord Venkateswara. Thousands of devotees were present in the grounds to witness this Pushpa Yagam.

The model deity images of Astadasa Sakthi Peethams, Dasavataram and others were also on display in the same premises. During these days cultural programmes were also conducted. Every day procession with Lord Venkateswara’s ‘Ustava Murthulu’ was also conducted by the committee on Surya, Chandr, Garuda, Ravan, Sarvabhupal vahanam.

This spiritual and devotional event was well organised under the supervision of Garimella Nani, Dugagunta Srinivasulu, MB Krishna Rao and Manepalli Lakshmi kumari.
