According to Hindu mythology the ‘Magha’ month is auspicious and during this month people offer Arunaparayana, Surya namaskarams, Soura homam to the sun god Surya.

According to Hindu mythology the ‘Magha’ month is auspicious and during this month people offer Arunaparayana, Surya namaskarams, Soura homam to the sun god Surya. 37 years ago, the devotees of Surya formed as a group under the guidance of late Dasaka Appyaiha Sastry and started Arunaparayana In the premises of Vijayeswaraswamy temple, near Prakasam barrage. This committee had organised this Vedic event on Sunday in the same premises.

During the course of Arunaparayana the organiser, Pasumarthi Kameswara Sarma, said that Surya is considered as an important god because he is the source of life and that’s why the Sun was positioned in the center of ‘Navagrahas’. He also said that modern science found out that the sun is in the center to all the nine planets and all of them orbit around the sun. Sarma also said that our sages found out this truth thousands of years ago and mentioned about it at several places in the Hindu scriptures.

He also mentioned that anyone can identify these characteristics in the ‘Navagraha Manthra’ and those are similar to what the NASA scientist described in their research findings. Kameswara Sarma said that Rigveda, mentioned that Surya should be worshiped for empowerd knowledge and also for health.

The committee mentioned that these traditional events will be organized on all Sundays of Magha masam and on Ratha Saptami (February 3). They requested the devotees to participate in large numbers to get blessings of God Surya. Dasaka Krishnamohan, Kuchibhotla Phanikumar, Sivaram, Seetepalli Subrahmanyam and others participated in the spiritual event.
