Breaking away from the towering heels, models walked barefoot for ‘Reincarnation’ show at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 in Mumbai on Thursday.

Models flaunted exuberant collection of accessories and clothes made of stones, industrial waste products, scrap metal from city junkyard and rubber tyres.

The collaborative show of six labels also included I Was A Sari, The Stitching Project and Kurio, which saw a variety of silhouettes like deconstructed saris, long skirts, kimono style dresses, palazzos, long kurtas, jackets in a wide range of hues.

Exquisite hand-woven ensembles

Sailesh Singhania presented a line of exquisite khadi saris. His collection ‘Actuality of Consonance: Khadi’ glorified Indian handloom in a contemporary way. The organza blouses were avant-garde with intricate bow details and elegant sleeves beautiful in multiple hues.

House Of Milk displayed luxury wellness through organic creations. Designers Reshma Merchant and Priyanka Kaul Lakdawala used nontoxic fabrics treated with Ayurvedic herbs for fluid, free-flowing and quite ethereal styled garments.

For ‘Galang Gabaan’ Lipsa Hembram presented ‘Simplify’. Using organic dyed textiles from Kotpad; Lipsa revealed the tribal cuture of Odisha. Soft silhouettes were kept elegantly anti-fit.
