Swift, from Maruti Suzuki has been an over performing veteran in the hatchback segment in India and vows to enhance its ubiquitous stature. The Swift, packed quite a punch when it came to performance figures, mileage and comfort factors. It is everything that a common household ever wanted out of a car. Fast forward 11 years from its release, it is still going strong amassing a few thousands in sales values every year.

As per sales figures of June 2016, the Swift had slipped out of the top five selling cars in India, losing out to Hyundai i10 and the excellent Renault Kwid. To fend off doubts regarding its reputation and performance in the market, Maruti Suzuki have astutely released a limited edition DLX version of the hatch.

The DLX edition of the Swift will be priced at Rs 4.54 lakh for the petrol variant and at Rs 5.95 lakh for the diesel one. This extremely competitive price point has ascended its claim amongst its counterparts. Under the hood is the same, 1.2-litre K-Series petrol motor that produces 84 PS of peak power and 115 Nm of peak torque. As for the diesel version, it is likewise powered by the same 1.3-litre DDiS that is good for 75 PS and 190 Nm.

The newer edition is deluged with features such as a Sony FM music system with Bluetooth, USB and Front door speakers, all four power windows, blacked out B-pillar along with fog lamps. A package of such calibre is also aided by safety features such as engine immobiliser and child safety locks. As exciting as it gets, the new car will go on roads as early as next year and will be produced at the company’s Gujarat production plant.
