Krishna ZP chairperson inaugurates five-day archary championship

All India Inter University Men and Women Archery Championship began on a grand note at Hindu College in Machilipatnam in Krishna district on Wednesday. Krishna Zilla Parishad (ZP) chairperson Gadde Anuradha inaugurated the five-day tournament and accorded a guard of honor from the participants.

Nearly 1,050 men and women archers from 98 Universities participated in the championship. For the first time 98 Universities have participated in the All India Inter University Championship. Speaking on the occasion ZP chairperson Gadde Anuradha said that the state government is trying to conduct Olympic Games at new state capital Amaravati. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wants to provide international standards sports facilities at Amaravati and the State Government is giving top priority to sports and games, she added.

Winning medals in National and International sports and games would help students and youth in their life, said Anuradha. Everyone should give importance to sports and games while perusing their education, she added. Machilipatnam Parliament Member (MP) Konakalla Narayana said that the oldest town Machilipatnam popularly known as Bandar had traditional values. He felt very happy that 98 Universities have been participating in the All India Inter University Archery Championship.

Machilipatnam Municipal Chairman Baba Prasad, Krishna University Vice-chancellor Prof S Rama Krishna Rao, University Registrar D Surya Chandra Rao, Andhra Pradesh Archery Association (APAA) secretary Cherukuri Satyanarayana, Krishna district president Himanth Kumar, former vice-chancellor MK Durga Prasad, Sports Board secretary Dr N Srinivasa Rao and others present.
