The Cultural Centre of Amaravati has organised ‘Perini dance’ of Satwika Penna on Thursday at the Cultural Centre in the city.

The Perini dance flourished in the Kakatiya era and is also named as the 'warrior dance' as it was an inspirational art form to the warriors. Earlier this was performed only by male dancers as it was a Tandava lasya.

The dance legend Nataraja Ramakrishna brought this art form into light and revived it. Later, females were also permitted to perform this dance as it has the importance of ‘Lasya’. Presently the Telangana State Government has recognised it as a dance form and due importance is given to this dance form as well.
