Promoting sanitary hygiene
A one-week special camp on toilets was held by the NSS department of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala from March 25 to 31, said the college principal Dr T Vijayalakshmi on Friday.

She said that the students of the NSS department participated in the special camp at Yanamalakuduru village. The students conducted a door-to-door survey on toilets at home. They conducted survey of 8,300 houses and found 1,000 houses without toilets, she said.
She further said that the students explained the villagers the methods of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. They also educated the villagers on precautionary measures to be taken for mosquitoes-free environment, awareness on environment neatness and conducted plantation programme. NSS programme officer K Sarala, T Nagarani and NSS students participated in the programme.
