India’s most popular compact sedan and second highest selling car is all set for a generation change in the coming few months. We are talking about the Maruti Swift DZire which has now been spotted without any sort of camouflage and the design is completely revealed now.
As seen in the images, the design of the compact sedan has been given major revisions and visually it looks longer than the current model even though the length will be the same on paper. The styling continues to come with curvy elements and there’s some additional chrome too.
The interiors have also been completely revamped and there is a dual tone black and beige colour theme on offer with wood inserts on the dashboard and steering wheel. The centre console gets a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the same unit which is offered on a lot of recent Maruti cars.
On the mechanical front, the DZire will get the same engines that are offered currently – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel, both mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Maruti will also offer automatic gearbox option with both the engines, with the diesel engine getting an AMT unit. The vehicle is also likely to drop the Swift name from its badge and will be called just DZire.
