City boy BJSK Ranadheer won the Krishna district under-25 chess championship which was held at Global Chess Academy at Moghalrajapuram here on Sunday. Ranadheer scored five points out of five rounds and stood in first place while K Jayanth Reddy also scored five points and stood in second position.

Ranadheer scored five points out of five rounds and stood in first place while K Jayanth Reddy also scored five points and stood in second position.

About 50 chess players including 10 international rated players attended the tournament. Based on the under-25 district tournament, first and second place winners have been selected for Andhra Pradesh under-25 state championship, which will be held at Srikakulam from May 5 to 6. In a closing ceremony, Andhra Pradesh Chess Association secretary D Srihari presented trophies to winner and runners.

Speaking on the occasion, Srihari said that AP players had exhibited good talent in all the State championship and won the medals. He sought the support from the State government to encourage the chess players. Global Chess Academy secretary Sk Khasim and others participated.
