Expo on heritage sites and monuments

As part of the World Heritage Day celebrations, the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati (CCVA) has put up a week-long exhibition of ‘Preserve Heritage for Posterity’, a campaign launched by CCVA. The Cultural Centre has showcased about 41 photo frames of Prehistoric Rock Paintings, Iron Age monuments, Buddhist Structures, Hindu Temples, Inscriptions and Rare Sculptures which deserve protection, said CCVA CEO, Dr E Sivanagi Reddy. He further said that Tourism Secretary Dr N Srikanth inaugurated the exhibition.

He said that school children from Vijayawada urban and rural are coming to see the heritage exhibition at the CCVA. He further said that the exhibits are Buddhists’ caves at Penumaka and Sitanagaram villages of Undavalli mandal in Guntur district. Jain Caves at Ambapuram, Vijayawada rural, Nayakuralu Nagamma Temple at Gumalapadu, Dachepalli mandal in Guntur district, Buddha images from Motupalli village of Prakasam district, Buddhist pillars from Thipurantakam of Prakasam district, Buddhist pillar at Pinakadinvi village in West Godavari, Timmappa Temple at Tondavada village of Chittoor district and Visveswara Temple at Kalva village of Kurnool district. Sivanagi Reddy said that the exhibition will be open till April 24 from 10am to 7pm every day.
