Honda Unicorn 150 power reduced to 12.73 HP

Back in 2005, when Honda launched the Unicorn 150, it did quite stir the market. It came with a 149cc engine that was so butter smooth, some of my friends who owned the bike would complain that they could not make out whether the bike’s ignition was on or off after it had been to a service.

The smooth and inaudible engine was refined, powerful, fuel-efficient and lighter on the pocket to own as well as to maintain, the Honda Unicorn was everything a 150cc motorcycle could be.

It’s been almost 12 years since the Unicorn 150 was launched and it still manages to do good numbers for Honda. Last year Honda updated the Unicorn with a BS4 engine. However, Honda has now reduced the power output from 13.14 HP to 12.73 HP for no apparent reason.

The bike still uses the same 149.2cc air-cooled 4-stroke powerplant that belts out 12.73 HP of power and 12.80 Nm of torque. This motor comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.

Suspension duties are via telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The motorbike gets a disc brake at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The Unicorn 150 is available in a choice of three colours Red, Black and Grey. Prices for the Unicorn 150 start at Rs 70,267 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
