At a time when most cricket academies and clubs from the twin cities rest content with having their trainees participate in tournaments held in Bangalore and Mumbai during the summer holidays, the Marredpally-headquartered St John’s Sports Coaching Foundation (SJSCF) sends teams to neighbouring nations in order to help the players to get international exposure.
A team from the Foundation returned recently from a successful seven-game tour of Sri Lanka where it trumped in five of them. Needless to say, players from St John’s walked away with the three coveted honours that were at stake.
The all-round exploits of Mayank Gupta (226 runs and nine wickets) expectedly fetched him the player of the tournament award. With 290 runs in his kitty, Aman Rao was the best batsman while Vasist was the best bowler for his overall haul of 15 wickets. On their return, the team members and their coach Bunty were felicitated by the Foundation.
