Swarajhuri, a musical based organisation, has been conducting a classical music programme every month for the last 28 years. As a part of its monthly programme, Swarajhuri organised a violin duet of Dr Kalipatnapu Srimahathi Priyanka and Hemadri Chandrakanth on Monday evening at Sri Sivaramakrishna Keshtram (Ramakoti).

As a part of its monthly programme, Swarajhuri organised a violin duet of Dr Kalipatnapu Srimahathi Priyanka and Hemadri Chandrakanth on Monday evening at Sri Sivaramakrishna Keshtram (Ramakoti).

Dr Kalipatnapu Srimahathi Priyanka had her initial violin training with GV Ramakumari and Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao and she has been perusing advanced music training with Annavarapur Ramaswamy. Priyanka is an ophthalmologist.

Hemadri Chandrakanth had his initial violin training with Maddela Ravikumar and later with GV Ramakumari. Further Chandrakanth had his advanced music training with Annavarapur Ramaswamy. Hemadri Chandrakanth is presently doing Law.

Priyanka and Chandrakanth commenced their violin duet with ‘Valachi Vachi’ Varnam in Navaragamalika. The pair traditionally continued their concert with the composition of Deekshitar ‘Vatapi Ganapatim bhajeham’ in Hamsadwani ragam. Further they played the keerthanas of Saint Thyagarajaswamy ‘Kannatandri napi’ in Saraswathi manohari ragam, ‘Kaligiyunte kada’ in Keeravani ragam.

The ragam-tanam-pallvi in Kalyani efficiently presented by the pair stood as the highlight projecting all round manodharmam talent of the duo. Their smooth bowing produced ear pleasing swaram throughout the concert.

The audience expressed immense pleasure for the composition of Patnam Subrahmanyam Iyyar ‘Raghuvamsa Sudhambudi Chandrama’ in Kadanakutuhala Ragam. The concert concluded with Thillana in Kanada Ragam.

The concert was appreciated by the connoisseurs for the professional touch and soft tuning. Kundurthi Aravind an eminent mridangist and Martur Haribabu a renowned Ghatam player rendered excellent support to Priyanka and Chandrakanth.
