Shift in trend from hotels to guest houses for temporary accommodation
Stay trends of tourists visiting the city has been changing from hotels to private guest houses, after the development of Amaravati getting the capital status.
Stay trends of tourists visiting the city has been changing from hotels to private guest houses, after the development of Amaravati getting the capital status. Presently there is a huge demand for hotels and lack of sufficient government guesthouses. In this backdrop, several business-oriented persons have been converting their buildings as private guesthouses and some of them have plans to construct guest houses for providing all the necessary accommodation facilities on par with hotels.
Several private guesthouses have been established in various areas across the city. They have targeted locations near marriage function halls, hospitals, and other business locations. Several passionate building owners converted their premises as guesthouses. Now the people can find roadside private guesthouses at Sunnapubattilu center, Prajasakthinagar, Saibaba temple center (Stella college center), Patamata Lanka, Poranki, one town and some other areas in the city.
Private guesthouses owners are charging over Rs 10,000 for three-bed room flat for rent per day. The guesthouse owners provide air-condition facility along with furniture. They have also been levying a separate charge for electricity and generator says A Venkateswara Rao who is the manager of one private guesthouse. He said that private guesthouses have good demand throughout the year and they would provide extra beds for the convenience of customers. Some sections of people prefer guesthouses in aspects of security, he said.
A Sivarami Reddy, a business man, booked a guest house at teachers’ colony for a function at his brother-in-law's house, and said that the private guesthouse atmosphere is quite similar to a home. He said that he prefers guest houses instead of hotels. On the other hand, it is a common thing to have people celebrate birthdays and other family functions in private guesthouses.
The managements of private guesthouses would not involve any matters once their premises is handed over to customers says one employee of a private guest house at Mogulrajapuram on condition of anonymity. Besides, some section of people who visit the city from outside for better medical services from private hospitals are also selecting guest houses for accommodation.
Musunuri Gandhi, who has plans to construct service apartment in the model of a guest house, speaking to The Hans India said that some of his kith and kin suggested this to him as nowadays guest houses are a lucrative business.
