G Venkateshwaramma, native of Uppuluru village in Kankipadu mandal of Krishna district, who is pursuing BSc in PB Siddhartha Arts and Science College, Vijayawada, has been taken by her College academic director Vemuri Babu Rao. He served as a lecturer, principal for more than three decades and now is the director of Parvataneni Brahmaiah Siddhartha Arts and Science College in the city.

The lecturers’ priority is the poor who have a a problem with education. The lecturers have decided to pay their fees and also monitor their progress in education. The aim is to make students successfully complete their higher studies till they get jobs. Following Babu Rao's initiative, as many as 80 members of staff have taken up one student each. Now the lecturers’ want to pay fee amount based on the students’ requirement. The lecturers have decided to motivate students, said V Babu Rao who was instrumental in starting the programme.

Speaking to The Hans India, he said “I got an idea to give to the society what the society has given me. As an educationist, I knew I could do something through education. That's why I have taken up one poor student. Generally 75 per cent of the students are merit in any class, while 25 per cent of the students are poor in education. The negligence of parents is cause for the reason, and that is where I wanted to make a difference" he said.
