She is YVGK Lalitha Sindhuri, the only Kuchipudi dancer selected for the prestigious 'Full Bright Nehru Doctoral Fellowship' in USA from the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

At present she is pursuing her Ph.D in Kuchipudi dance in the Central University at Hyderabad andcompleted MA (dance) and a diploma with distinctions. Lalitha Sindhuri was empanelled on 'Festivity India Abroad' by the union government.

Speaking to The Hans India, Lalitha Sindhuri said that she was selected for the fellowship by Columbia University in USA under a student exchange programme. Under this programme, as many as 120 students will goto the university in other courses such as Mathematics,
Science etc and the same number from Columbia University also will get to goto other countries.

She gave a performance for the then President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam and it was a great achievement for her. She received many state and national level awards from union and state governments and various organisations. She received awards such as Balasri (2006), Balaratna (2004), Natyamayuri (2009).

Nrutya Bharathi, Nrutya Koumadi (2010), Abhinava Rasadhuni, Out Standing Young Person Award (2011), Nrutya Sarada, Nrutya Vilasini (2013), Abinaya Nrutya Siromani (2014) and Natyamanjeera (2015) etc.

She further added that her role models are her grandfather, Vempati Venkata Narayana, Vempati Chinna Satyam and Padmasri Sobha Naidu. Parents Prasad and Vara Lakshmi encouraged her in all aspects possible. “My mother resigned from her job and my father works in Andhra Bank,” she added.
