A fun-filled sunday

District Collector B Lakshmikantham, VMC Mayor Koneru Sridhar, Commissioner J Nivas and other officials participated in the Happy Sunday programme held at Pantakaluva road ninth division on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion district collector said that Happy Sunday was organised at all municipalities and gram panchayat in the district. All the locals actively participated in the events, and said everyone will be busy with their activities for six days in the week and can spend their Sundays with some entertainment.

The District Collector mentioned that by conducting these events hidden talent would come out and such events should be conducted at all places, he added. Mayor Sridhar said that various event management organisations are taking part in the Happy Sunday. Games like Kabbadi, Volleyball, Cricket were played along with cultural activities like dances, singing on the roads where taffic was diverted.

Earlier Happy Sunday was organised only on MG road. Recently it was held at BRTS road and now was held at Pantakaluva road, he said. Margam organisation had displayed placards to use eco friendly Ganesh idols for the upcoming festival.

At Guntur

Girls students of various colleges participated in the Happy Sunday Programme held at Lakshmipuram Centre and performed dance to various Telugu and Hindu film songs and music on Sunday. Over five hundred students participated in the programme. The GMC commissioner Ch Anuradhra urged audience who came to see the programme to participate in the progrmame and added that the aim of the programme is to provide entertainment to the citizens of Guntur. She also said that they will conduct competitions in bongaralu, goleelu, kabadi, skipping and tennikoit.

At Rajamahendravaram

As many as 3,500 vinayak idols made with clay were distributed as part of Happy Sunday at Pushkar Ghat in the city. Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) planning to distribute 35,000 clay vinayaka idols for Vinayaka Chavithi festival, scheduled to be held on August 26. Meanwhile, programmes conducted by various organisations, educational institutions and individuals made an eye feast for the participants.

Students of Jampeta municipal school performed 'Jahayo' dance programme, followed by a folk dance 'ghallu ghallu gajjela singaram'and 'Gopika Kalyanam' by the students of Chunnilal Jajoo municipal school. Many other dance programmes relating to national integrity enthralled the audience. RMC commissioner V Vjaya Rama Raju, additional commissioner Srinivas, corporator Dr K Srinivas, health officer Dr MVR Murthi and many others were present.
