UM Motorcycles, partner of the Lohia Group, officially showcased its Renegade range last year at the 2016 Auto Expo. With an attractive sticker price of Rs 1.49 lakh, many eyeballs at the event were glued to the Renegade range. Originally available in two forms, the company has now expanded its lineup by adding Renegade Mojave and Classic to its Commando portfolio. While the Mojave has been priced at Rs 1.8 lakh, the Commando Classic retails at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The two new motorcycles are powered by the same 279.5cc single-cylinder engine that does duty on other Renegade motorcycles as well. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and develops 24.8 BHP of power at 8500 RPM and 23 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. Tipping the weighing scale at 179 kgs, both the bikes are suspended via 41 mm telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear.
The Renegade Classic was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo along with the Sport S and Commando. Positioned as a touring machine, the Commando Classic comes with a dual-tone metallic paint with Copper Cream and Glossy Black shade. The American company has added a tank pad, saddlebag, alloy back rest, engine guard and a windshield as well. Devoid of the windshield, the Commando Mojave is available in a matte desert colour and gets a cell phone pad on the tank.
Both the offerings are identical in size with a length of 2257 mm and width of 780 mm. Ground clearance of 200 mm and wheelbase of 1545 mm is also shared between the two. A large 18-litre fuel tank further solidifies the character of these cruiser bikes. While the Classic is shod with oodles of chrome all over it, the Mojave carries a rugged look with Mojave desert logos on its matte paint. UM dealers have started accepting bookings and customer deliveries will begin later this month.
