A two-week-long Programme ‘Contemporary Advances in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering (CAMME)-2017’ began at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University here on Monday. It is to takeplace till November 10.

Speaking on the occasion IISC’s professor U Rama Murthy highlighted the developments of materials and their manufacturing processes, which plays a vital role in employment generation. He supported PM Narendra Modi’s statement, “Make in India” and stressed to focus on manufacturing in India. Rama Murthy also advised the JNTUK to take the leading role in the development of industries in the upcoming and bifurcated state of Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Guest and JNTUK Rector K Purnanandam spoke about the significance of manufacturing processes of various materials from the ancient era to modern era. He urged the research scholars and emerging engineers to pay their attention to safety measures, while manufacturing the materials, making this place a livable and comfortable. Head of Mechanical Engineering M Kumara Swamy presided over the programme while Dr D Linga Raju acted as the Convener and Coordinator for this programme.

JNTU Principal Prasada Raju, Directors, Programme Directors, HoDs, Faculties, Resource Persons from NITs, DRDO, ISRO, Faculty Members from Various institutes affiliated to State Universities in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, and Research Scholars were present in the programme.
