Ongole: Prakasam District Collector V Vinay Chand released relief to Sanika, the girl who lost an eye when her teacher threw a pen, in district Collectorate on Monday.

According to the details, Dasari Sanika is second class student in Mandal Parishad Elementary School in PC Palli in 2016. The class teacher Paluri Srinivasareddy threw a pen towards her to calm down her in the class. The pen hit her left eye and she lost vision due to it. Her father Dasari Manohar Dasu lodged a complaint with the police under SC/ST Atrocity Act and requested to include sections of damage due to a government officer. Based on the report from the Kandukur DSP, the SC/ST Court ordered the government to provide a relief of Rs 3 lakh to the girl.

On Monday, the Collector V Vinay Chand handed over the relief to the girl and her parents in the Collectorate. The parents of the girl thanked the dalit leader, Neelam Nagendrarao, for standing by and guiding them in the inquiry process.

However Nagendrarao expressed dissatisfaction that the officials didn’t release a single rupee of relief under the Children Care and Protection Act and in accordance with GoMS No 28.
