30 percent diabetics unaware of its presence
Diabetes is a disorder and not a disease and it can be controlled, said the Lion’s Club Gems Founder, L Krishna Murthy. The Lion’s Club Gems conducted free blood tests to the members of Walkers Association of Boat Club here on Wednesday.

Speaking on this occasion, Krishna Murthy said that diabetes is not exclusive to elders as it is found among youngsters as well. "The Lion’s Club gives priority for the control of diabetes," he said.
Deciphering diabetes for the laymen, he said that about 30 percent of the people would not recognise it in its early stages.
"With healthy habits one can prevent diabetes and if anyone neglects this, diabetes affects the heart, kidneys and eyesight," he explained.
Krishna Murthy said that with the support of Lion’s Club, blood tests are being conducted widely to create awareness on diabetes. N Naga Babu, Adabala Ratna Prasad, T Satya Narayana, Dasari Sreedhar, M Subba Rao also presided over the event.
